Kate Markhvida

Kate Markhvida holds a B.A. degree in economics from the University of British Columbia (2007), a M.A. degree in economics from Carleton University (2008) and a graduate diploma in Air and Space Law from the Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University (2012). Ms. Markhvida is a recipient of the Social Sciences and Human Research Council (SSHRC) graduate scholarship.

From 2008 to 2011, Ms. Markhvida worked at Canada’s federal antitrust agency (the Competition Bureau) where she supported and oversaw enforcement and advocacy projects in different economic sectors such as merger reviews and civil reviews of abuse of dominance, vertical price restraints, refusal to deal, and other anti-competitive exclusionary practices. 

Since 2012, Ms. Markhvida has worked as Manager of Economic Analysis and Consultant with InterVISTAS Consulting Inc., a Vancouver-based transportation and aviation consulting company. Her areas of expertise include competition assessments, regulatory and policy analysis, demand analysis and forecasting, economic modeling and cost-benefit analysis. In her professional consulting capacity, Ms. Markhvida helps clients understand the economics of airports, airlines, railways, and other transportation providers and find solutions to stay competitive and commercially viable.
